Sonata at Payne Hollow
A Play By Wendell Berry
Now Available to watch
This short film adaptation of Wendell Berry's one-act play was produced by The Rabbit Room and MORE Productions in 2020, but until now it has not been available for viewing by the public. The film is a love story and a ghost story, and at its heart are Harlan and Anna Hubbard, a couple that lived a unique life of art and music along the Ohio River and from which Berry drew much friendship and inspiration. Each of Berry's books are adorned with a painting by Harlan Hubbard, and this unique film is a love letter from Berry to those who came before him.
Directed by Matt Logan and filmed/edited by MA2LA, the creative team behind The Hiding Place film, Sonata is a beautiful fusion of Berry's poetic voice and his vision of our relationship with the created world and with one another.

A Christmas Carol

Ran in December 2024 in Franklin, Tennessee
Christmas Eve arrives in Victorian London, but the miserly old Ebenezer Scrooge isn’t having any of it. He’d rather support prisons than feed his own apprentice or celebrate the season. But he will be haunted by a parade of spirits before the sun comes up on Christmas Day, and in their wake, even the coldest heart may yet be changed.
Charles Dickens’ story is a timeless classic, reminding us that our past need not define us, our future is not yet written, and the present is a priceless gift.
From the creative team behind The Hiding Place, Frankenstein, and The Battle of Franklin, comes a sumptuous production of a beloved tale. This Christmas, Rabbit Room Theatre and Matt Logan Productions present a fresh adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.
2022-2023
The HIding Place

““This is a riveting adaptation beautifully brought to life by the iconic Nan Gurley as Corrie Ten Boom.””
“For years I have heard theatre defined as “Telling the truth under imaginary circumstances,” and THE HIDING PLACE is one of the finest examples I have encountered.”

In partnership with Matt Logan Productions, Rabbit Room Theatre staged A. S. Peterson’s adaptation of Corrie Ten Boom’s beloved book in a sold-out run in Nashville, Tennessee. The stage production was filmed by MA2LA and presented as a cinematic experience in cinemas around the world in August 2023.
THE HIDING PLACE now available to stream at Angel.com, LambandFlagStudios.com, and well as streaming services such as Apple TV and Amazon Prime.
2016-2020

FRANKENSTEIN
“Directed with flair by Matt Logan, Peterson’s new take on Shelley’s time-honored classic is brought to life thanks to the vivid performances of Logan’s superb cast in a production that fairly leaps off the printed page of the script to a stage awash in all manner of stageworthy magic that ensures the rapt attention of every audience member.”
THE BATTLE OF FRANKLIN
“A. S. Peterson centers the piece around Franklin’s landmark Carter House, including young Theodrick ‘Tod’ Carter, his family and the slaves who lived and worked on their farm. But Peterson gives us much to consider beyond stark historical facts, reminding us that, too often, we are ‘strangers together in the same house, unseeing, unknowing, unloving.’ A true poet, Peterson’s language is rich with imagery.”
Wendell Berry’s SONATA AT PAYNE HOLLOW
This exclusive cinematic presentation of Wendell Berry’s one-act play was filmed for the Hutchmoot: Homebound conference in 2020 in partnership with MORE Productions and MA2LA. It was made available for viewing by the public in 2025.
